Professor Matti Anniko and Rafael Acosta from Uppsala University Hospital, Sweden, visited TMUCIH from Oct. 31st to Nov.3rd, 2005 Professor Matti Anniko, Member of the Royal Academy of Medical Sciences, the head of Department of Otolaryngology and Head & Neck Surgery of Uppsala University Hospital, as well as Professor Rafael Acosta, the Consultant Plastic Surgeon and Chief Microsurgery & Resident Training Program of Uppsala University Hospital, were invited to visit Tianjin Medical University Cancer Institute and Hospital (TMUCIH) from Oct. 31st to Nov.3rd, 2005.

During their visit in the hospital, two experts made productive academic exchanges with the doctors from Head and Neck Department, Breast Cancer Department and Neurosurgery Department. They made ward around, clinical consultations and did operations with Chinese doctors on Functional Neck Dissection and Artificial Vessel Graft to the Carotid artery and Repaired with Pectorals Major Musculo-Cutaneous Flap , Breast Cancer Modified Radical Mastectomy and DIEP (deep inferior epigastric perforator) Flap Breast Reconstruction, Breast Cancer Radical Mastectomy and Latissims Dorsi Flap Breast Reconstruction. The two experts also gave state-of-the-art lectures to the doctors, researchers and technicians of the hospital.

Leaders of TMUCIH, President Xishan Hao, Deputy Director Ping Wang and Ying Wang made a discussion with Sweden experts and the two sides reached an agreement on further collaboration between the two institutions. Professors Anniko and Acosta¡¯s visit made a great contribution in accelerating the relationship between TMUCIH and Uppsala University Hospital. During their stay in Tianjin, they paid a visit at Tianjin Medical University as well.
