The department was established in 1988 and is the only one of its kind in our country which combines the pathologic diagnosis with scientific research and teaching course on breast cancer. As a leader Unit of the National Breast Cancer Pathology Cooperation Institution, there is twelve professionals and staffs in the department. During 16 years development, the department stands in the front edge of the professional field and diagnostic level on breast cancer pathology.

The department takes on pathologic examination and diagnosis and insists on standardization, systematization and serialization. The unique technologies of the department are as follows: a) thewhole organ section is used for diagnosis of the multifocal breast cancer, occult breast cancer and Paget’s Disease. b) anti-human breast cancer monoclonal antibody M4G3 is used to confirm the primary focus of the lymphatic metastasis of cancer. The department are equipped with advanced facilities and devices.
