The Department of Gastrointestinal Tumor was established in November 1999, with a 42-bed ward. There are 13 doctors in the department, include 4 chief doctors, 3 vice chief doctors, 6 surgeons (1 doctoral adviser, 1 postgraduate’s tutor, 5 PhD and 1 doctoral student).

There are 5,000 outpatients and 800 inpatients treated in the department and about 500 operations performed every year. We are specialists on surgical treatment for gastric cancer, rectum and pancreatic cancer. We can perform total gastrectomy and reconstruction, include D3 or D4 for gastric cancer, functional jejunal interposition after total gastrectomy, total pancreatectomy for pancreatic cancer, pylorus-reserved pancreatico-duodenotomy, total mesentery resection for rectum cancer, anus-reserved operation for low rectum cancer, intraperitoneal chemotherapy with MMC bound activated carbon particles, intraperitoneal hyperthermia for advanced gastric and colon cancer, etc.
