There are 5 doctors and 4 nurses / technicians in the endoscopy center. The center is equipped with a number of state-of-the-art facilities, including electronic bronchoscopes, laryngoscopes, gastroscopes, duodenoscopes and colonoscope, and provides a full range of endoscopic procedures. In addition to the above equipment, the center also possesses endoscopic high frequency electronic devices, microwave therapy devices, an automatic cleaning and disinfection machine for endoscopy, a central oxygen supply system, a central air conditioning system, video monitor system, an image-report diagnosis system, a local area network (LAN) and computers.
The staffs of the center are well-trained, and the special facility is equipped for all kinds of emergencies. The center provides excellent diagnosis and differential diagnosis for various intracavitary tumors of the digestive tract and the respiratory tract, monitoring and prophylactic treatment of intracavitary precancerous lesions and local therapy of tumors. The center’s particular superiority is to relieve obstructions and to improve the swallowing function, ingestion, respiration and voicing or excretion. Benign intracavitary tumors can be easily cured, including the tumors of the nasopharynx, throat, trachea-bronchus, esophagus, stomach, duodenum and total colon and rectum. The department has established cooperative relationships with other clinical departments to carry out a variety of diagnoses or treatments, such as painless endoscopy, dye endoscopy and urgent endoscopic treatment.
At the same time, the center is expert in polypectomy, ablation, dilatation, removal of foreign bodies, implanting stents, local chemotherapy, antihemorrhagic injections, coagulation of bleeding, tissue biopsy from the digestive tract or the respiratory tract for histological examinations, emergency treatment for obstructive failure of the respiratory tract and the treatment during the operation. Most endoscopy procedures are performed on an outpatient basis, allowing patients to return to work or home within 2 or 3 hours. There are over 4,000 outpatients each year, among them 500 are the cases of micro-traumatic surgery. The scope of medical services includes all the provinces of Northern China.
