The first department of Breast Tumor was established in 1998 and there are now 11 surgeons, including 2 chief surgeons, 3 vice-chief surgeons, 2 attending surgeons and 2 residents. Four of them have PhD degree and 2 of them have master degree.
In the department, the standard of diagnosis and treatment on breast cancer is strictly carried out and a trans-departmental consultation team is set up to formulate the individual therapeutic plan for each patient. Besides radical mastectomy and modified radical mastectomy, surgical operations such as breast -conserving surgery, breast reconstruction, reconstruction of nipple and mammary areola, as well as mammaplasty, can also be performed in the department.
The doctors in the department are highly educated and many of them have been visiting scientists in USA, Australia and Sweden for several years. Every year more than 800 inpatients with benign and malignant mammary disease receive surgical treatment and several scientific research projects are undertaken in the department.
