In No. 3 Department of Breast Cancer, there are 9 surgeons, including 2 professors, 4 associate professors, 2 attending surgeons and 1 resident. There are 46 beds in the ward. A total of 4000 cases with mammary disorders are diagnosed and managed in the department every year, including some 800 patients with breast cancer, who received surgical treatment in the ward.
Segmental resection for benign tumor, such as Auchincloss, Patey and Halsted mastectomy, and conservative surgery for breast cancer are performed in the department. Breast reconstruction is also performed for patients receiving mastectomy. Rational adjuvant therapies, including chemotherapy, endocrine therapy, radiotherapy and biotherapy, etc. are the choices for the individuals with various breast cancers. The 10-year survival rate for those with early-stage breast cancer is over 80%.
