The department of Laboratory undertakes the work of detection and diagnosis in the hospital, and the routine examination for cancer patients is the main task. In the department. There’re six labs: clinical biochemistry lab, clinical lab (for outpatients and inpatients), clinical microbiology lab, clinical immunology lab, marrow lab and blood bank. There are 34 people in the department, including two senior technical experts who are engaged in the study of immunology and microbiology, and in charge of the work of teaching and research in the department, and 17 secondary technicians with intermediate professional title.

Now there are many modern apparatuses here, including automated biochemistry analyzer, electrochemiluminescence fully automated immunoassay analyzer, automated hematology analyzer, fully automated urine cell analyzer, etc.

The department has about 410 test items, especially those for detection of the tumor marker which is the characteristic of the department. At present the department boasts the final test laboratory of tumor marker in Tianjin.
