China will host UICC World Cancer Congress 2010

The preparatory work of UICC World Cancer Congress 2010 in China has been in full swing. Currently, Prof. Xishan Hao, President of World Cancer Congress 2010 and the President, Tianjin Medical Univeristy and Prof. David Hill, President of International Union Against Cancer(UICC) made a further conversation and discussion for preparatory issues in Shenzhen.

China has been selected as the destination for the 2010 World Cancer Congress, which approved at the UICC Board of Directors meeting held in November, 2006. UICC and its hosts, the Chinese Anti-Cancer Association (CACA) and the Chinese Medical Association (CMA), are pleased to announce that the congress will be held from 18-21 August 2010. The World Cancer Congress 2010 will focus on primary prevention, screening and early detection, treatment and management, supportive care, end of life, as well as on how programmes, infrastructures and resources are integrated into existing delivery systems. Best practices and the challeng es of maximizing effectiveness, efficiency and outreach in different resource settings will be an important aspect of dialogue and debate.

It is highly significant that China win the bid to host this important academic event with international influence. It will play an promotional role in further impoving the exchange and cooperation between China and international medical peers, raising china’s status and influence on internatinal cancer prevention and enhancing the overall level of china’s modern medicine. As the member of UICC,Tianjin Medical University Cancer Institute & Hospital will spare no efforts in academy, staff and organization to asssit CACA and CMA and make our due contribution to hosting a successful academic event with international influence in China.
