Teaching Ward Rounds of Interventional Therapy Department and No. 3 Breast Oncology Department

    The interventional department and the No. 3 breast oncology department launched teaching ward rounds respectively on Nov. 23, 2014 and Dec. 02, 2014.
    On Nov. 23, 2014, the interventional department launched a teaching ward round on primary liver cancer. First, the student Sun Yuanyuan reported the disease history, the residency Xu Yan supplemented more contents, the attending physician Director Si Tongguo scrutinized the medical records very carefully and listened to the students’ medical records reporting. After observing the student’s specialist physical examination, Director Si pointed out the irregularities during the physical examination process and did an exemplary demonstration. After the end of the bedside physical examination, Director Si led the students and relevant personnel to carry out analysis on the characteristics of the cases and carry out intensive discussions on clinical diagnosis, interventional treatment characteristics, comprehensive treatment programs and how to identify the disease. Finally, Director Xing combined the characteristics of the cases and stressed that the patient’s chief complaint is an important indication of the hospitalization.
    On Dec. 02, 2014, the No. 3 breast oncology department launched a teaching ward round on breast cancer. First, the student Li Jiao reported the disease history and carried out specialist physical examination, the residency Zhang Min supplemented more contents, the attending physician Director Zhi Xiangcheng corrected the irregularities during the physical examination process and did an exemplary demonstration. After the end of the bedside physical examination, Director Zhi led the students and relevant personnel to review the medical records and pointed out that the patient was suffered from HER2-positive breast cancer, the stage was late, the prognosis was poor, Director Zhi led the students and relevant personnel to carry out intensive discussions on diagnosis and treatment that they had a comprehensive and clear understanding on the staging of breast cancer, imaging diagnosis, indications of neoadjuvant therapy, and evaluation of the efficacy, etc.. Meanwhile, Director also introduced the forefront therapy development of breast cancer, and interpreted the latest guidelines for breast cancer, the attended students asked questions very positively, and the atmosphere was very active. Finally, Director Zhang Jin summed up the knowledge points of the teaching ward round, pointed out that the transmission from major research discoveries into clinical practice applications is a gradual process, and encouraged everyone to be committed to the clinical career and cultivate clinical thinking.
    During the two teaching ward rounds, relevant persons in charge of the departments attached great importance, relevant departments made adequate preparations, the disease selection was appropriate, and the teaching ward round processes are standardized. During the bedside physical examination process, the attending physicians promptly corrected the irregularities and did an exemplary demonstration. During the discussion on medical records, the attending physician combined the medical cases with the to-be-taught knowledge and focused on cultivating the students’ clinical thinking.
    In subsequent teaching ward rounds, teaching objectives of the teachers, the students’ review in medical records and professional foreign language vocabulary, etc. must be further strengthened.
