Teaching Ward Round of Pediatric Oncology Department

    On the morning of Mar. 25, 2015, the pediatric oncology department launched a teaching ward round on neuroblastoma. First, the student Jin Yan reported the disease history, the residency Li Zhongyuan supplemented more contents, the attending physician Director Li Jingfu medical records very carefully and listened to the students’ medical records reporting. During the physical examination process, the student communicated with the patient very well, the medical records reporting was fluent, the physician Li Zhongyuan supplemented more contents. Director Wang observed the student’s physical examination very carefully, asked questions in English and corrected the irregularities during the physical examination process. After the end of the bedside physical examination, Director Wang led the students and relevant personnel to summarize the cases, and asked questions on onset symptoms of the cases, the attended physicians expressed their respective views, Director Wang summarized and summed up the common symptoms and specific symptoms of neuroblastoma, and further led the students to carry out intensive discussions on pathogenesis and treatment methods selection of the disease that everyone had a comprehensive understanding on neuroblastoma. Finally, the president Zhao Qiang summed up the knowledge points of the teaching ward round, pointed out the key points of the teaching ward round and stressed the cultivation of the students’ basic knowledge, basic theory and basic skills.
    During the teaching ward round, relevant persons in charge of the departments attached great importance, relevant departments made adequate preparations, the disease selection was appropriate, the medical records preparation was sufficient, the physical examination techniques was skillful and details had been focused on, the teaching ward round processes were standardized. During the medical records discussion process, the attending physician combined the cases with to-be-taught knowledge, and led the students to carry out intensive discussions and interactions. It is suggested that the teaching objectives shall be clarified, there shall be more questions, the interaction shall be strengthened. Meanwhile, the teaching cycles shall be further improved, and questions shall be assigned to the students by combining the teaching objectives.
